Methodology: Tracing the Language Learning Trail
In order to determine the UK cities that exhibit the highest levels of interest in learning a new language, we employed a rigorous and transparent methodology. Our approach not only ensures the reliability of our findings but also provides valuable insights into the language learning landscape across the nation. Here’s an overview of our methodology:
- 1. Keyword Gathering: We began by utilizing Google Keyword Planner to gather an extensive list of keywords related to language learning. We focused on keywords directly related to language learning and excluded any unrelated or peripheral terms. Growth in Search Volume Points: We also assigned points based on the percentage growth in search volume over the past 3 months, ranging from 1 point for growth between 0%-100%, up to 8 points for growth exceeding 100,001%.

- 501% – 1,000%: 3 points
- 1,001% – 5,000%: 4 points
- 5,001% – 10,000%: 5 points
- 10,001% – 50,000%: 6 points
- 50,001% – 100,000%: 7 points

- 4. Data Analysis and Ranking: Using the refined keywords and the point scoring system, we analyzed the language learning landscape across various UK cities. We assigned points to each city based on the keywords associated with them, considering both search volume and growth rate.
